Wyoming State Games Karate Tournament

Members of the Laramie Kempo Club, as pictured, competed at the Wyoming State Games karate tournament in Casper on April 28.  Everyone who competed came home with a medal, with the following awards.

Sensei Amber Travsky: Gold, Kata Black belt 35 and over; Grand Champion Black Belt Kata.
Nich Haderlie: Gold, Kata Black belt 18 to 34 and Gold, weapons Black belt 18 to 34.
Bailey Abbott: Silver, Kata Black belt 18 to 34 and Silver, Weapons Black belt 18 to 34.
Shadow McKim: Gold, Kata Intermediate ranks ages 18 to 34.
Johnny Mickelson: Gold Kata beginner ranks; Silver sparring beginners ages 18 to 34.
Fischer Kirven: Gold Kata beginner ranks ages 14 to 15; Gold Sparring beginner ranks ages 14 to 15.
Owen McLaughlin: Gold, Kata intermediate ages 8 to 10.
Jennifer Wang: Silver, Kata intermediate ages 8 to 10; Silver, sparring intermediate ages 8 to 10.

Demo groupIvinson Hospital Health Fair

Members of the Laramie Kempo Club, as pictured, presented a demonstration at the Health Fair on January 10, 2015.  Thanks to the students for taking the time to participate and to their parents for also taking the time to get your child to the demo.

 

SamiJackalope 5K Race

Samantha Johnson, age 10, took 2nd place in the Women 19 and under age group. The race was held in Laramie on April 26, 2014.

Qingfeng

Laramie Student Wins State Mathcounts Competition

Qingfeng Li, a seventh-grade student at Laramie Junior High School (and Junior Green Belt), won first place at the recent 2014 Wyoming State Mathcounts competition at the University of Wyoming. Li won the contest last year while competing for Spring Creek Elementary School. Qingfeng went on to compete at the National Mathcounts competition in Florida in early May.

autumnsheldonKempo Club Members win at Wyoming History Day Competition

Sheldon Williams (Junior Yellow belt) and Autumn Scherden (Junior Purple Belt) won 2nd Place at the State History Competition held at the University of Wyoming.  In June they head to the national competition in Washington, D.C.  Their winning presentation was “Fantastic Plastic!
