Members of the Kempo Club who recently competed at the Wyoming Karate Classic tourament in Cheyenne.
Members of the Laramie Kempo Karate Club competed at the tournament in Cheyenne on September 3. For most, it was their first tourament but everyone came home with an award.
Awards:
Amber Travsky: 1st place black belt traditional kata (age 42 and up); 2nd place black belt open kata
Rich Travsky: 2nd place black belt traditional kata (age 42 and up), 2nd place black belt open weapons kata
Ross Tolman: 1st place black belt traditional kata and sparring (age 18 to 34), 2nd place black belt team sparring
Ed Kempema: 1st place advanced men's traditional kata and sparring (age 42 and up); 2nd place black belt team sparring
Katie Kempema: 3rd place advanced women's traditional kata (age 18 to 34) and 2nd place sparring
Emily Schaneman: 3rd place advanced girl's traditional kata (ages 11-12); participant in sparring and team sparring
Dakota Poteet: 3rd place intermediate boys sparring (ages 11-12)
Dawson Poteet: 3rd place intermediate boys sparring (age 10)
Teresa Bingham: 1st place traditional women's kata (ages 18 to 34); 2nd sparring; 2nd black belt team sparring
Julie Hamerlinck: 1st place women's advanced traditional kata (ages 42 and up), 1st place sparring
Lindsay Schumaker: 1st place women's beginner traditional kata (ages 18 to 42), 2nd place sparring
Scott Morrow: 1st place men's beginner traditional kata (ages 42 and up), 1st place sparring
